GHOST RIDER
CHAOTIC GOOD
MALE
SYNOPSIS
Some say that the long and troubled life of Johnny Blaze behaves as a cautionary tale for others: they say he's the reason you should never try to make a deal with the Devil.
His life began on an idyllic note of sorts, but life has a way of dealing people a bad hand every now and then. But poor Johnny just seemed to keep getting dealt nothing except bad hands.
But he's used to the pain by now, numb to it. His mother abandoned him when he was just a boy, hell, she took his brother and sister away with her. And then his father died in a stunt gone horribly wrong. But the Simpsons; Crash, Mona, and Roxanne? Now that was his true family, the people he could hold closest to his heart.
But it didn't last, though – good things never last for long. He nearly killed himself trying to pull off the stunt his father failed to do, and accidentally took the life of his mother because of it. He swore he'd never ride again, and it ate at his relationship with Crash; a love affair between Johnny and Roxanne made matters more complicated, and it capped when Crash was diagnosed with lung cancer.
That's when Johnny became desperate.
And desperate people are dangerous people – if family's at stake, a desperate man will even sell his soul to the Devil himself. And that's just what Johnny thought he did when he made a pact with Mephisto to have his father cured of cancer, and he paid that price most terribly when he died the next day attempting to break the world record for the longest jump.
Johnny tried to run from the deal, but Mephisto was determined to make him keep his end of the bargain, even as the purity of Roxanne's love for him drove the demon away. To ensure that his soul would belong to him, he bound the spirit of Zarathos to Johnny in order to corrupt him, triggering his first transformation into the fearsome Ghost Rider.
But Johnny's come along way since that fateful night, and he's learned quite a bit about the true legacy of the Ghost Rider's curse. He's suffered a lot of tragedy for it, but the long and lonesome road offers him a glimmer of hope: that he'll one day be forever free of the Spirit of Vengeance.
Until then, the Ghost Rider would be needed to deliver punishment to the guilty.

POWERS / ABILIITES
- SUPERHUMAN STRENGTH: As the Ghost Rider, many of Johnny's powers and talents are exclusive to this form, when the demon Zarathos is the one exerting dominance. His body's physical attributes are raised beyond the limits of mortal possibility as demonic energy courses through him, improving his muscular strength to the point where he is now capable of lifting and moving up to 25 tons of matter and is able to land blows with enough striking force to completely reduce a twenty-story skyscraper to a pile of detritus in mere seconds.
- SUPERHUMAN STAMINA: Physical activity of any kind fails to produce fatigue toxins within the Ghost Rider due to the demonic energies swirling within him, bestowing the Spirit of Vengeance with an endless pool of stamina to use as he sees fit. He will never grow tired or exhaust himself during combat, and the necessity to eat and sleep is eliminated as long as Johnny is in the Ghost Rider form, although he is still required to breathe.
- SUPERHUMAN DURABILITY: The Ghost Rider is entirely immune to all conventional forms of damage, ranging from melee-related injuries or bullet wounds to falls from sustained heights, being crushed, torn apart, or even decapitated. This also grants him full resistance to extreme temperatures and conditions, allowing him to function normally even in the most unstable or hostile of environments. Even the potency of more powerful metahuman abilities such as energy blasts and large-scale impacts will do nothing to slow him down – not even the full power of the Hulk at his angriest is enough to make the Ghost Rider twitch a finger in pain. The only way to directly injure the Ghost Rider is to use a weapon or an instrument that was forged in Heaven.
- REGENERATIVE HEALING FACTOR: In spite of his near-total immunity to most varieties of damage, holy weaponry and artifacts appear to be the only things capable of inflicting solid damage against the Ghost Rider. This particular ability serves as a direct counter to such a scenario; in the event he sustains a wound of such a nature, the magical energies that empower his body will allow him to rapidly regenerate from all of the damage that was inflicted onto him. He is even capable of regrowing any lost limbs or completely restoring the shape of his skull in the event it is obliterated or crushed. Only complete molecular obliteration on a divine level is the Ghost Rider able to be truly killed – by that logic, only the power of God can do such a thing, effectively categorizing the Ghost Rider's healing factor as a form of pseudo-immortality.
- HELLFIRE MANIPULATION: The Ghost Rider is capable of creating, projecting, influencing, controlling, shaping, altering, or otherwise manipulating Hellfire, an ethereal and supernatural source of flame that not only functions like fire normally would, but it is capable of inflicting irreversible damage to the very soul as well. He can utilize this mystical fire a number of ways: he can project it from his eye sockets or mouth in bursts or concentrated streams, augment parts of his body or objects on his person with Hellfire to increase his ability to inflict lasting damage, create great walls of Hellfire to protect himself or corner his foes, and even create objects out of pure Hellfire such as his signature motorcycle. His most powerful application of this power is an omnidirectional explosive Hellfire wave with devastating consequences for anyone who sustains a hit from one, as was demonstrated against the Hulk.
- MYSTIC CHAIN PROJECTION: The primary weapon of the Ghost Rider is a mystical, multipurpose chain which he can wield to its fullest potential, and this skill represents his talent with the weapon. He can make it grow endlessly and is also able to spew more of this magic chain from his mouth or chest at will. The chain is highly powerful and can slice cleanly through nearly any substance bar from the hardest ones, and it has the power to transform into other weapons at the Ghost Rider's behest.
- ENHANCED SIZE: A recently obtained ability after an altercation with the mighty Thor, the Ghost Rider now demonstrates the power to grow up to five times his original size. His physical parameters will scale proportionately to meet his new dimensions, as will the size of his Hellfire attacks.
- PENANCE STARE: The Ghost Rider's ultimate ability, finishing move, and calling card as the Spirit of Vengeance. Upon making prolonged eye contact with his enemy, he is able to force them to experience all of the suffering and pain they've ever inflicted on every single person in their life in an instant, a form of spiritual torture that the victim perceives as lasting for all eternity. The damage that one receives is both physical and spiritual in element and is purposed for complete obliteration of those who are judged guilty of sin; its potency and the amount of damage it inflicts to them is proportionate to how much suffering they've inflicted throughout their lives, so it goes without saying that those with blackened and bloody pasts or those who are inherently malicious and cruel by nature are likely to receive the greatest amount of damage. This power cannot be used against targets that have no eyes or alien symbiotes such as Venom and Carnage, and it does have the potential to be resisted, although such events have thankfully been few and far between. The Penance Stare has no effect on soulless beings.
SKILLS / TALENTS
- EXPERT STUNT RIDER: Having been exposed to motorcycles and riding one for nearly all his life, Johnny Blaze has achieved the honor of being the world's greatest stunt rider and stands as the pinnacle of skill atop a bike, and this skill reflects itself in the Ghost Rider's very nature. He can maneuver any kind of bike in ways that most other people cannot, and as his demonic alter-ego these feats are taken to inhuman heights. The Ghost Rider has even been known to utilize his motorcycle as a weapon itself from time to time.
- STREET BRAWLER: Having no formal discipline or training, Johnny Blaze employs an unpolished but efficient set of skills and moves he's learned as the Ghost Rider alongside his numerous experiences in bar fights across the world. If necessary, he's also willing to pick up a gun or two if it means evening the odds.
- ORDER WITHIN CHAOS: His experience with handling the corrupting spirit of Zarathos has allowed Johnny many opportunities to better understand the reason behind their complex bondage to one another, and it is these trials and tribulations that have educated him in the ways of effectively channeling Zarathos' powers outside of the Ghost Rider form. While he is not as efficient or powerful as his skeletal alter-ego, Johnny can still hold his own when the chips are down.
EQUIPMENT / TRANSPORTATION
- HELL CYCLE: The Ghost Rider's iconic mode of transportation, it takes the appearance of a flaming motorcycle with tires that perpetually burn with Hellfire whilst leaving an orange trail in their wake, its body shaped to take on the visage of a grinning skull mad with laughter. While it functions physically identical to any worldly bike, the Hell Cycle defies the laws of physics and is capable of traveling across any surface including water and at any angle; it is even able to drive straight up a completely vertical wall. While rarely used, the Ghost Rider has also demonstrated that it possesses the capability of flight. It can reach up to speeds exceeding 500mph, however its top speed has yet to be revealed. Finally, the Hell Cycle is entirely obedient to the Ghost Rider's every whim and will do exactly as he commands it to, even if he is not actively riding the bike.
- MYSTIC CHAIN: A seemingly normal iron chain that is entirely supernatural in its nature, it is a multipurpose weapon made entirely out of Hellfire and the Ghost Rider's primary method of attack. When inactive, it stays coiled around its wearers arm until its service is needed, by which it will unravel itself and become a weapon with a myriad of functions; the chain can be extended seemingly without end, as its maximum distance has never actually been specified nor recorded. It can be used as a medium to long-range lashing instrument as the weighted cap on the end of the chain bludgeons the Ghost Rider's victims, or it can also behave as though it were rope, allowing him to traverse obstacles or even restrain the movements of his foes. He can also stiffen the links to form a makeshift bar or staff to use in martial combat or even separate the links to create shuriken-like blades which zero in on his targets.
